WDVGE has developed a proprietary workflow for testing surfactants and other completion chemicals for how they interact with the reservoir. The workflow includes performing fluid compatibility and tilt tests as initial screening, contact angle measurements, and proppant pack wettability tests to evaluate the tendency of chemicals to favorably alter the wettability and aid in oil movement.

In shales a large portion of the reservoir is composed of clay minerals. Different clays exhibit different behavior when exposed to fluids. Clay stabilizer testing is performed to establish the degree of sensitivity to fluids.
